PURPOSE:To increase acid resistance or intensity of a heat exchanger especially in high temperature, by using silicon carbide fiber, which coexists with metallic silicon. CONSTITUTION:Material containing 5-65wt% of fibroid silicon carbide and 6.5- 35wt% of metallic silicon is used as a silicon carbide material. Silicon carbide fibre has extremely high intensity by itself. Trial is made to blend it with silicon carbide powder and to utilize it as a material of high intensity, but pressure- tight material is hard to be obtainable. Coexistence of metallic silicon makes it possible to obtain the one of high intensity and of pressure-tight. An effect of metallic silicon is not recognized if it is 6.5wt%, but in case of more than 35wt%, the quantity of silicon carbide is relatively lowered, and it seems that problems will be caused in heat resistant and corrosion resistant properties of the material. |
