In the process for manufacturing a fabric, particularly a ribbon fabric, two weft yarn loops formed by different weft yarns are inserted in a warp shed formed by warp ends and are detached without using an auxiliary yarn. This is made possible since at least one weft yarn is supplied through a space of the reed in the warp shed.
