This relates to a piece of wicker furniture which is constructed especially as a cabinet or shelf unit and has a base structure or frame consisting of laths and also to a method for manufacturing this piece of furniture. The base frame can be dismantled or at least partially dismantled, the individual parts being wrapped, in each case separately, with wickerwork or the like or having wickerwork woven around them. The front and rear wall (5, 6) of the base frame in each case form units which consist of cross struts (11) and vertical supporting struts (7, 8 and 9, 10, respectively) which are firmly connected to one another. Crossbars (14) with end-face dowels are provided for connecting front and rear wall (5, 6). After assembly, a stable, sturdy piece of furniture results. The wrapping of the individual parts of the piece of wicker furniture before putting together can be carried out considerably more easily than wrapping with the ready assembled furniture. In the dismantled state, the furniture can be despatched and transported in a space-saving manner. <IMAGE>
