For transporting used nuclear reactor fuel assemblies (22), flasks (1) which enclose a fuel assembly (22) gastightly can be used. They have a mechanically anchored cover (8) and, in addition, a sealing weld (25). According to the invention, fastened inside the flask (1) is a supporting disc (15), with play in relation to the cover (8). It absorbs shocks from the fuel assembly (22) during transport, thus preventing them from acting on the sealing weld (25) of the cover (8). <IMAGE>
