A liquid gas system in a motor vehicle has a liquid gas tank (10) and a filling line (14), a tank stop valve (13) being provided in the line (14), which valve is mechanically actuated by a float (12) located in the tank (10). In addition a level indicator which has an analysing circuit (18) triggered as a function of a remote sensor (17), is also provided for the tank (10), the remote sensor (17) being influenced by a float (16) in the tank (10). The analysing circuit (18) controls a first comparator (43) and the latter a solenoid valve (19) in the filling line (14) of the tank. At the same time this also constitutes a safety device to prevent overfilling of the tank and a filling display. <IMAGE>
