The present invention relates to a process for bleaching pulps, obtained in high yields, with peroxides. It has hitherto been known to bleach mechanical pulps with peroxide, but according to these methods the bleaching is carried out in a single stage. According to the invention, the bleaching stage is divided into two or more phases with intervening draining and addition of chemicals.
