The assembly comprises a shaft 160 having fixed on one of its ends a turbine rotor 170. A step 188 adjacent the turbine rotor connects a first portion 160a of the shaft with a second portion 160b thereof, the second portion having a smaller diameter than the first. A compressor rotor 172 having an axial bore 182 is fitted over the second portion and abuts the step. A counterbore is provided in the compressor rotor and receives a retainer nut 180 which forms an interference fit with the second portion of the shaft. The retainer nut abuts the rear wall of the counterbore thereby retaining the compressor rotor in position on the shaft. A spring may be provided between the nut and the rear wall of the counterbore. Threads on the nut 180 enable engagement by a threaded tool for withdrawing the nut from the shaft to remove the compressor rotor. <IMAGE> |
