PURPOSE:To obtain a magnetic thin film head generating a high intensity magnetic field for recording, suitable for high density recording, and having large reproduction output and superior output-noise characteristics by dividing at least one magnetic pole of a magnetic core into >=2 parts on the side opposite to a magnetic recording medium to form a comblike shape. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic thin film head is composed of an under magnetic layer 53, an upper magnetic layer 52, a nonmagnetic substrate 51, a gap 54 and a conductor coil 55. Grooves are cut in the layers 52, 53. The thicknesses T3, T1 of the layer 53 are 4mum and 2mum, respectively, the width W1 of each tooth of the comblike part is 15mum, the intervals are 2mum, the depth D1 is 40mum, and the width Tw1 of the track is 66mum. The thicknesses T4, T2 of the layer 52 are 3.5mum and 1.75mum, respectively, the width W2 of each tooth of the comblike part is 20mum, the intervals are 1.5mum, the depth D1 is 30mum, and the width Tw2 of the track is 63mum. Thus, a magnetic thin film head generating a high intensity magnetic field for recording, suitable for high density recording, and having large reproduction output and superior output-noise characteristics is obtd. |
