A food product, comprises a mixture containing, by weight, 43% to 93% amylaceous powder, 0% to 30% sugar and 2% to 12% edible oil and/or fat said mixture having been cooked at elevated temperature and pressure and then extruded through die means so that the product has a water content not exceeding 6% by weight and a short, biscuit-like texture. According to a preferred embodiment the cooked mixture is extruded in the form of a hollow tube and at the same time a filling is extruded into the hollow tube so that the food product is in the form of a casing having a short, biscuit-like texture and a filling. |
