Method and apparatus for manufacturing a hollow fiber reinforced plastic article by improving the orientation and weaving of the wires used as reinforcing material, and continuously automating the series of forming steps using a simple process. This method includes the steps of continuously supplying a core (11) of prescribed shape along a predetermined route, inserting the core into a winding drum (22) and a winding disc (21) coaxially with the drum and disc so as to move relative to them, inserting a weft wire (20a) into a guide hole formed in the disc to rotate the disc in a first direction and moving the core in a predetermined direction to wind the weft wire onto the core while winding the weft wire onto the winding drum, rotating the disc in a second direction opposite to the first direction after winding in a predetermined quantity, and winding the weft wire onto the core by moving the core in the predetermined direction, supplying synthetic resin to the weft wire at the inlet or outlet side of the disc, hardening the synthetic resin layer formed on the core, and cutting the hollow article thus hardened and finishing the surface of the hollow article. |
