PURPOSE:To decrease the reproduction loss occuring in the angular deviation (azimuthal angle) between a recording track and a main magnetic pole and to improve recording density by forming the cross sectional shape of the main magnetic pole of a vertical magnetic reproducing head into an arc or equivalent shape. CONSTITUTION:A curved projecting part 10a of a semi-circular cylindrical shape is formed on the lateral part of a nonmagnetic ceramic substrate 10, and is polished, then an Ni-Fe alloy is deposited by sputtering or the like on the part 10a, thereby forming a main magnetic pole 11. A curved recess 12a fitting to the part 10a is formed on a nonmagnetic substrate which is then fitted to the substrate 10. The surface to be made into contact with a recording medium is curved and polished, whereby a vertical magnetic recording and reproducing main magnetic head is obtd. The main magnetic pole 14 wound with an excitation coil 15 is similarly formed to an arc shape. The similar effect is obtainable when the main magnetic pole is formed like a part of a polygonal shape. The azimuthal loss is thus decreased and the recording density is improved. |
