PURPOSE:To attain the picture transmission, by transmitting a coded picture after confirming the type of a device between a transmission and a receiving sides so as to match algorithm between devices of different types. CONSTITUTION:A coder/decoder comprising a coder 2 and a decoder 13 is denoted by type A and a coder/decoder comprising a coder 9 and a decoder 6 is denoted by type B. The type A coder 2 detects that a devide type information ET received at a type A decoder 13 represents the non-lock type, and recognizes matched with a type B decoder 6 in the non-lock algorithm, the non-lock coding is attained and the coded data is transmitted to an incoming transmission line 4 via a data output terminal 3. The cording with non-lock is informed to the receiving side by transmitting the control information in this case. The signal inputted at the receiving side is decoded at the decoder 6, and a picture signal is obtained after the DA conversion. |
