0-(Aminoalkyl)fluorenes(I; R1=OH, CN; R2,R3=H, C1-6 alkyl, CH2C2-5 alkenyl, Ph-C1-3 alkyl contg. optional hetero atom; R4,R5=H, C1-4 alkyl, halo; n=3-5), effective antiarrhythmics at o.7-3.2mg/kg in dogs, were prepd. Thus, 12.7g 9-cyanofluorene in 300mL THF was mixed with 2.6g Naamide in 200mL THF, refluxed for 3 hr, and cooled to room temp. The resulting soln. was reacted with 14.2g 3-dimethylaminopropyl-chloride in 500mL THF and refluxed again for 16 hr to give 2.3g 9-(3-dimethylaminopropyl)-9-cyanofluorene
