PURPOSE:To raise the productivity of expanded spheres by a method in which expandable synthetic resin beads preliminarily expanded are molded in a two or more integrally connected form, and the connected parts of the beads are cut off to obtain two or more separated beads. CONSTITUTION:In a mold, 10 or more cavities 1 are connectedly arranged in parallel, and gates 2 through which thermoplastic resin heads preliminarily expanded are sent in with compressed air are provided at the tip parts of each train of the cavities. Also, grooves are provided around the central part of the cavities of a split type, and communication holes 4 are formed in the connected parts between the grooves of the adjacent mold cavities. Preexpanded resin beads are concurrently and uniformly sent into the cavities and expanded and molded by heating to obtain plural trains of two or more connected expanded beads. The connected parts of the connected beads are cut off to obtain large numbers of separated expanded moldings by only one molding operation. |
