PURPOSE:To enable the use of a platen roller with a large diameter and a thick thermosensitive paper by arranging the electrode surface at parts most affected lower than a printing section forming surface in the sections where electrodes joined with printing sections of a resistor are connected to leads. CONSTITUTION:A step 20 is provided on a substrate 1 at the sections where connections 10 are to be formed between a common electrode 4 and external leads 7 so that the section for the common electrode 21 is lower than a heat generating section 5. The step 20 can be limited to the parts intended for the connections 10 or provided in a belt along the length of the substrate. The step 20 can be formed by molding when the substrate is made or by grinding with a grinder after the marking of the substrate. In a thermal head wherein a drive circuit element is arranged only on one side of the printing section 5, it can be arranged so as to shift the printing section 5 further to the end thereof. |
