PURPOSE:To obtain an alkaline battery excellent in the safety for a human body even when being swallowed by using 18-8 stainless steel having the extremely low carbon content as the material of a battery container additionally serving as the positive terminal. CONSTITUTION:In a button type alkaline battery, the positive pole black mixture 1 involving the main active material of a metal oxide such as mercury oxide, manganese dioxide and silver oxide while being added with graphite as a conductive material thereto is molded by pressure into a battery container 2 combining the function of positive terminal. Said container 2 is made of 18-8 stainless steel including the carbon content not exceeding 0.03wt%. Next, the negative pole 3 made of amalgamated zinc powder is mixed with a gelatinized alkaline electrolyte while being brought in direct contact with a sealing plate 4 in order to be housed. |
