PURPOSE:To obtain a highly efficient heat regenerator capable of minimizing intrusion of heat, by dividing heat accumulating medium in a plurality of stages in the direction of gas flow by means of one or a plurality of spacers made of a material having a low coefficient of thermal conductivity. CONSTITUTION:Heat accumulating medium 1 is partitioned in multi-layer in the manner that one or a pluraity of spacers 3 made of a material having a low coefficient of thermal conductivity are inserted into a heat exchanger 2 so as to prevent outflow of the heat accumulating medium 1 and contact of the same. In heat accumulating process, the heat accumulating medium 1 absorbs heat from gas introduced into the heat exchanger from its low-temperature end C. In heat releasing process, on the other hand, it imparts heat to gas introduced into the heat exchanger from its high-temperature end H. Since intrusion of heat by heat conduction of the heat accumulating medium 1 can be reduced by inserting the spacers 3 into the heat exchanger 2, it is enabled to obtain a highly efficient heat regenerator. |
