<p>PURPOSE:To obtain the titled compound in a high recovery ratio of an expensive solvent, by subjecting a reaction product to phase separation into an amine layer containing a formed tertiary amine and a solvent layer containing a catalyst, adding a polyalkylene glycol having a specific boiling point to the amine layer. CONSTITUTION:8-30C long chain olefin is reacted with carbon monoxide, hydrogen, and a primary or secondary amine in the presence of a catalyst consisting of a compound containing rhodium and/or ruthenium as a main component in an alcohol such as 1-3C monohydric alcohol, 2-6C dihydric alcohol, 3-6C trihydric alcohol or a mixture of it and water as a solvent, the reaction product is subjected to phase separation to an amine layer containing a tertiary amine and the solvent layer containing the catalyst, the latter is recycled, a polyalkylene glycol and/or a polyglycerine having a boiling point higher than that of the formed tertiary amine is added to the former, so that a very small amount of the catalyst eluted in the amine layer is recovered, to give the desired compound.</p> |
