PURPOSE:To manufacture an electrode material for gas diffusion having excellent characteristics, by mixing an electric-insulating material, carbon powder depositing catalytic metals, and liquid lubricant, and forming by extrusion etc. CONSTITUTION:Carbon-black powder dipositing 1-50wt% platinum-metallic powder such as Pt, Ru, Pd, Rh, Ir, etc., and having 10-500m<2>/g specific surface area and <=1mu particle diameter is added to an electric-insulating material such as polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) so that said powder is regulated to 7-9wt% of the total amt., and furthermore, 20-300pts. specified liquid lubricant, based on 100pts. of the total amt. of PTFE and carbon black is added to attain a pasty state. The paste is fabricated into sheet, and is stretched unidirectionally after the liquid lubricant is removed by heating. An electode material for gas diffusion having excellent characteristics on void and air permeability, and the good durability, and the good durability is manufactured. |
