PURPOSE:To improve relation with an input picture by deciding on state of not only (mXn) concern picture element but also picture elements surrounding it and deciding an output picture when varying the power of a picture element by an integer. CONSTITUTION:When the concern picture element X is multiplied by, for example, twice longitudinally and laterally into X1-X4, the state of not only the picture element X, but also surrounding picture elements A-H are checked. When surrounding picture elements A-H are as shown in a figure, they are arranged on lines L1-L4 and states of picture elements (Y9,Y1,Y2,Y10), (Y3,X1,X2,Y4), (Y5,X3,X4,Y6), and (Y11,Y7,Y8,Y12) are checked, and states of the circumferential picture elements are also decided according to the check result. Thus, lines on the input picture are represented as an output picture having uniform line width regardless of the direction and the similarity to the input picture is improved. |
