PURPOSE:To accurately display a liquid amount even if a residual amount is small, by a method wherein a small volume protruded part is provided to the bottom surface of a liquid storage tank and an ultrasonic oscillator having a small diameter pipe vertically provided thereto is provided to the bottom surface of said protruded part. CONSTITUTION:A protruded part 3 having a contracted sectional area is provided to the bottom surface of a tank 1 and has a volume storing about 1-2l gasoline while a small diameter pipe 2 is vertically planted to the hole provided to the bottom surface 3a of the protruded part 3. The ultrasonic pulse outputted from the oscillator 4 is reflected by the liquid level in the pipe 2 to be received by the oscillator 4. Therefore, by measuring the time from the transmission of the ultrasonic pulse to the reception thereof, the information related to the height of the liquid level is obtained. As is apparent from the forgoing, accurate display can be performed by using the small diameter pipe even if the tank 1 is shaken and by the protruded part even when the residual amount is small. |
