PURPOSE:To make a separating roller and a driving roller usable in common and the length of an original conveying passage shorter as well as to reduce a space where a paper feeding part and a reading part occupy, by having the original conveying passage at each of the automatic paper feeding part and the reading part crossed at proper angles with each other. CONSTITUTION:A pressure plate 3 of an automatic paper feeding part 7, an original stopper 4 and a separation plate 5 all come into contact with a separating roller 20 at a position almost flush with a horizontal original table 1. On the other hand, the original conveying passage of a reading part 14 extends over in a vertical direction, while this separating roller 20 doubles as a driving roller, and at a position where its tangential line comes to verticality, a pressing roller 10 is pressed down to the combined separating and driving roller 20. Successively, a detector 11, a light source 12, a light receiving element 13 and a pressing/ discharge roller 16 are all installed at a position being rotated as far as 90 deg., while an original guide turns by 90 deg. at the downstream side of the discharge roller 16 and discharges the original to a tray 15 in a horizontal direction. |
