摘要 PURPOSE:To reduce the size of a device and to improve the reliability thereof, by providing a pair of imaging optical heads which form the images at both ends of a hot object, a pair of optical fiber arrays disposed in the imaging positions, image sensors and an arithmetic device. CONSTITUTION:The width W0 of the width W of a hot object 1 is a fixed intermediate length, and the width of the object 1 is measured from W=W1+W0+ W2 by measuring the widths W1, W2 at both ends. Imaging optical heads 11a, 11b form the image in the parts of the widths W1, W2 and optical fiber sheets 12a, 12b are disposed in the imaging position. The sheets are optical fiber arrays and serve as linear image guides. The images are formed with fiber plates 13a, 13b on image sensors 14a, 14b. The outputs of the image sensors generate the pulse numbers corresponding to the widths W1, W2 at both ends of the object 1 and therefore these outputs are inputted to an arithmetic device 15, by which the width W of the object 1 is obtd.
