In operation, X-ray tubes are mounted in protective casings. Their mounting requires separate magnetic bearing stator and tube rotor, whose mechanical and magnetic connection presents difficulties. The X-ray tube has a magnetically mounted rotary anode, as in 3149936. Magnetically conductive poles are inserted into the wall of the tube bulb and allocated to the magnetic mounting. The outer ends of the poles lie on an envelope of a truncated cone, whose base surface faces the anode. Pref. the cone envelope is inclined to the tube axis by 1-5 deg. The magnetic poles of the stator lie on an envelope surface of a hollow truncated cone, matching in shape the surface, supporting the pole ends in the tube bulb wall. Between the stator and tube may be a screw fastener.
