The invention relates to a process for the treatment of lead-sulphide or lead-zinc sulphide ores or of sulphide concentrates or of their mixtures in the presence of flux with addition of a circulation dust by roasting-melting them in a vertical flame under a technical oxygen atmosphere, followed by desulphurisation to a degree of 85 to 100 % and by reduction of the lead from the molten bath obtained with the aid of a solid reducing agent. According to the invention, the roasting-melting is performed in the presence of flux with a calcium oxide/silicon dioxide ratio of 0.15 to 0.75, and the reduction of the lead from the molten bath is carried out at a temperature of between 1100 DEG C and 1400 DEG C by filtration of the dispersed molten bath obtained during the roasting-melting in the vertical flame, through a layer of carboniferous material. The invention is particularly useful in the pyrometallurgical production of lead and the preparation of oxidised zinc sublimates from a polymetallic raw material.
