The loader excavator has a pref. articulated chassis with a front revolving crane with working equipment, and rear drive unit. The jib comprises an advance jib section (9) and main jib section (18). These are flexibly connected so as to fold together in the loading position, with the former sloping upwards and rearwards, and the latter facing forwards. In this position the leading end is above the front of the machine, for hinging the main jib arm. For digging, the two jib sections assume a position with the main jib as an extension of the advance jib, or at an obtuse angle to it. In this position, they pref. form a rigid entity. A single set of equipment can perform two functions, and revolve through a full circle.
