PURPOSE:To semi-automatize grinding of a excess metal part of weld after welding, by a method wherein two cruved chains are laid on a work surface by an attracting means after welding, and a movable truck supporting a motor-driven grinder is moved along the chains. CONSTITUTION:The two chains 1 are fixed to the welded work W in parallel to each other so that they can be engaged to guide rollers 3a and sprockets 3b, and on opposite sides of a weld line of a fillet on the work W. Then, a power gear 3d and the grinder G are driven to rotate, whereby a main body 3 is guided by the guide rollers 3a, and the sprockets 3b are engaged with the chains 1 and moved forward along the chains. Simultaneously, a grinding wheel G1 of the grinder G is rotated while being pressed against the surface of the work W by a spring 3h, so that the main body 3 is moved forward while grinding flat the excess metal of weld on the work W. When the chains are laid successively on the forward side by the time the main body 3 passes through the two chains 1, the excess metal of weld at the weld line can be continuously ground. |
