PURPOSE:The titled cosmetic which protects the skin from ultraviolet light selectively and strongly, has a high transparent feeling, improved makeup duration, dispersibility, water repellency, utility and stability obtained by blending a cosmetic base with a specific amount of finely divided particles of titanium oxide having specific particle diameters, subjected to hydrophobic treatment. CONSTITUTION:A cosmetic base is blended with 1-20wt% hydrophobic finely divided particles of titanium oxide having 40-70mmu average particle diameter, subjected to hydrophobic treatment, preferably titanium oxide having a rutile type crystal form to give an anti-suntan cosmetic which disperses ultraviolet light of 290-350mmu wavelength in all directions selectively and strongly, protects the skin form the ultraviolet light and the has the above-mentioned effects. In the hydrophobic treatment, methylhydrogen polysiloxane or dimethylpolysiloxane is preferably used. A creaking feeling of titanium oxide is reduce by the treatment, spread and water resistance, etc., are improved and titanium oxide can be stably dispersed into the cosmetic base. |
