PURPOSE:To make a conforming extrusion method applicable to a steel wire rod and to process the wire rod in high reduction rate of area without causing the breakage thereof, by providing a drawing force to the wire rod at front side of a die in a continuous extrusion means by said method. CONSTITUTION:A blank material 1 of steel wire rod to be processed is fitted to the outer peripheral groove of a wheel 2 to push the material 1 into a die 3' to obtain a product by pressing the material 1 by shoes and rotating the wheel 2. In this case, a coiler 9 is installed at the front side of the die 3' to provide a drawing force to the material 1. And a cross-sectional shape of the outer peripheral groove of the wheel 2 is formed into a V or a trapezoidal shape having a groove bottom angle theta of 40-90 deg.. Thus a pressing mechanism 7 of the shoe is made small in scale because a frictional force is produced at th contacting surface between the material 1 and the groove, and even for a blank material 1, which is difficult to provide a pressing force P enough for the yielding force of itself, is made possible to be processed by extrusion. Further, the shoe is separated into plural segments 6 having mechanisms 7 respectively to make the manufacture and the replacement easy, and the generation of heat is restricted and a sevice life of the segment 6 is prolonged by making a half die angle of a taper hole of the die 3' to be <=45 deg.. |
