The invention relates to a continuous press (1) having a pressing band (8) which moves over a chain drive, belt drive (6) or the like. In this arrangement, the two free ends of the pressing band (8) are each fastened to a winding roller (4, 5) mounted rotatably at the entry and exit of the press. The winding rollers are driven by the chain drive, belt drive or the like (6, 7) which can be switched in its direction of rotation. As a result of this arrangement, it is possible to make do with a simple chain drive compared with the known presses, without the need for an endless pressing band together with the tension rollers necessary for this. <IMAGE>
