The title compds. (I; R1=H, C1-7 aliph. alkyl, substituted Ph, R2CO; R2=aliph. alkyl, C3-6 cycloalkyl, substituted Ph) were prepd. Thus, 22.6g N-(2-phenylethyl)-α-N-(2-dimethoxy)ethylglycineamide was reacted with 40mL conc. H2So4 at room temp. for 3hr to give 12.3g 4-oxo-1,3,4,6,7,11b-hexahydro-4H-pyrazino[2,1-a isoquinoline (I; R1=H), which is especially active against tapeworms.
