An apparatus for the production of wet fleeces from continuous regenerated cellulose filaments has delivery rollers 1, 2 and 3 for introducing a bundle of filaments in the form of a band or sliver into the treatment tank 5. The base of the tank 5 is inclined downwardly at an angle of 4-15‹ to the horizontal and at its lower end is in the form of a blade 8 and is flush with the screen belt 9. The tank 5 is open at its lower end and a stream of water 6 flows along it supplied from an overflow vessel 4. This stream of water washes the bundle of filaments along the tank 5 and opens them out aided by water sprayed from spray units 12-15 which oscillate horizontally and perpendicularly to the direction of travel of the filaments. The filaments are then collected on the screen belt 9 travelling at a speed less than that of the filaments and the excess water is removed by suction units 17. Bonding agents may be sprayed on the fleece by means of spray unit 18. |
