A track loop K in advance of a signal having aspects R (red), J (yellow) and V (green) is fed, in dependence on the aspect, with a signal having a frequency which is indicative of the train speed required at the signal. When the section following the signal is occupied relay V releases operating aspect R and supplying a signal to gate P 00 , when one section following the signal is free relay V picks up energizing aspect J (yellow) and supplying a signal to gate P 16 , when two sections are free relay A also picks up energizing aspect V (green) and supplying a signal to gate P 18 and when three or more sections are clear relay P picks up supplying a signal to gate P 15 . The gates are associated with oscillators F 00 , F 16 , F 18 , and F 20 and filters f 00 , f 16 , f 18 and f 20 which respectively generate and pass signals at frequencies indicative of speeds at the signal of 0,160 km./h., 180 km./h. and 200 km./h. Assume aspect J (yellow) is showing, gate P 16 is opened and the oscillator F 16 signal is applied via the gate, filter f 16 , amplifiers AS and AP to the track loop K, whereby a train entering the loop section picks up the signal and regulates its speed to 160 km./h. at the signal. In addition the output of amplifier AP supplies the signal to a comparator C which if the signal is between preset limits maintains gate S open so that the oscillators may be energized via unit O and amplifier AA. Switch B which by-passes gate S, allows the apparatus to be switched on initially. |
