A moisture-repellant interior lining of fibre mats or similar materials is presented in which the edges (10) of the fibre mats (12) are bent off towards the wall (14) to be covered and are in contact with this in a surrounding and water-tight manner. The process for manufacturing this interior lining provides for a sealing material to be applied to the side directed towards the car body, which sealing material, when it is used not in a liquid or foam-like form but in film form, adheres to the sealing film in one work stage simultaneously with the compression moulding of the fibre mats, the synthetic resin being used as adhesive, which resin also serves to stabilise the fibre mat during compression moulding. <IMAGE>
