For the cyclic interrogation of a plurality of peripheral devices (LM1, ...) by means of a central interrogating device (ZSM1, ZSM2), it is provided that the central interrogating device successively outputs addresses designating the peripheral devices and interrogation signals via two separate bus line arrangements (3 and 4) to all peripheral devices for their activation.
