PURPOSE:To perform safer working at a place under danger of ignition and enhance the working efficiency, by a method wherein the scatter of sparks generated when a work is polished by a machine tool such as a polisher is surrounded by a curtain provided in the form of a bird cage. CONSTITUTION:An ejecting part 61 is provided at a head part of a water-directing pipe 6, and ejecting nozzles 62 are provided at an outside peripheral part of the ejecting part 61. A water-feeding pipe 63 connected to the pipe 6 supplies pressurized water. In polishing the work 2 by the machine tool 7, when pressurized water is supplied into the pipe 6 through the pipe 63, water is ejected through the nozzles 62 provided at the ejecting part 61 to produce a mist form curtain 8, which surrounds the periphery of the machine tool 7 in the form of a bird cage. Accordingly, the sparks 3 generated when polishing the work 2 by the machine tool 7 are cooled and extinguished by the water curtain 8 by making contact with the latter, so that the sparks 3 are prevented from being scattered to the outside of the water curtain 8. |
