To relieve the stress on leg muscles in skiing, a device is used which comprises two support parts (12, 13), which can be fixed relative to the thigh and the lower leg, and a spring device (15), connecting said support parts, the spring device producing a restoring force which increases with increased bending of the knee. The device is preferably inserted in receptacles on the inside of ski pants. The connection between the spring device (15) and one of the support parts (12, 13) can take place via a cable (16) which can be connected to an adjusting device (19) for prestressing the spring device (15). <IMAGE>
