PURPOSE:To obtain steel plate for a fuel tank preventing the clogging of a fuel transfer system and enhanced in corrosion resistance and adhesiveness, by a method wherein metal plating having softness and wettability is formed on the surface of the steel plate and molten lead-tin alloy plating is subsequently applied to the plated steel plate. CONSTITUTION:Metal plating layers 2 having softness and wettability such as copper or tin layers are formed on the surfaces of a steel plate 1 in the range of 1-5mum and molten lead-tin alloy plating layers 3 are formed on the surfaces of said metal plating layers 2 in a range of 3-8mum to obtain the steel plate of a fuel tank. Because this plated steel plate has alloy layers 4 formed between the metal plating layers 2, corrosion resistance and adhesiveness are enhanced. In addition, by interposing the metal plating layers 2, pinholes formed on the surfaces of the molten lead-tin alloy layers 3 are sealed and through pores reaching the steel plate 1 are completely eliminated. |
