Sintered cobalt-rare earth intermetallics for permanent magnets

摘要

Sintered intermetallic of Co and rare earth metal is formed from a mixture of particulate intermetallics, the base material being Co5R and the additive CoR (where R = rare earth). The additive is partially liquid or is solid at the sintering temp. The mixture is pressed, and sintered in an inert atmosphere to give a two-phase product, or major Co5R phase and ca 35 wt.% CoR. Used to mfe. high density permanent magnets having non-connected porosity.
