Controlling ring and traveller spinning machines

Yarn is fed to the traveller via an upper pigtail guide and a curved finger carried on the upper end of the bobbin spindle, and when the bobbin in full the spindle drive is shut off and the bobbin allowed to decelerate to a predetermined speed at which the pit-tail guide is pivoted away from the top of the spindle. The yarn then winds around the ringer and eventually runs off and passes directly to the traveller, so that when the spindle stops the bobbin can be removed having accurately controlled length of reserve yarn wound onto the bottom of the spindle.
