An oscillating mechanism for reciprocatably moving elongated cleaning shoes (60) axially mounted on the cleaning cylinder 50 of a rotary cleaning device (20) in a combine harvester is disclosed wherein the cleaning shoes (60) are individually reciprocated along a generally axial direction inclined inwardly toward the axis of rotation (25) to convey grain thereon in a rearward direction and help pass cleaned grain through the sieve openings. The oscillating mechanism (102,112,120) includes a spider (125) interconnecting a set of rocker linkages (128,129) corresponding to each respective cleaning shoe (60) and rotatably mounted on a crank portion (122) of a centrally located drive shaft (85) to orbitally move about the axis of rotation (25). The cleaning shoes (60) are reciprocatably moved in a timed sequence relating to the orbital position of the spider (125) relative to the cleaning cylinder (50) such that the number of cleaning shoes ((60) moving forwardly are equalized by the number of shoes (60) moving rearwardly, thereby counterbalancing the reciprocating movements of the cleaning cylinder (50).
|
