PURPOSE:To obtain close contact between the pole plate and retainer and reduce an internal resistance by integrally providing a resin frame to the lead lattice of the positive and negative pole plates and by filling said frame with active substance and simultaneously accommodating the retainer in the external space thereof. CONSTITUTION:A resin frame 2 in the constant height in the thickness direction of lead lattice 1 of the positive and negative pole plates is integrally provided to a single side of the lattice 1 and thereby thickness of the area of the lattice 1 filled with active substances 7, 8 is made constant by the intermediate frame of resin 2a. Simultaneously, an unwoven fabric retainer 3 made of a glass fiber is engaged with the space surrounded, in the single side, by the resin frame 2. It is then compressed in the specified thickness and thereby the positive and negative pole plates 4, 4' are securely placed in contact with the retainer 3 and thereafter these positive and negative pole plates are arranged opposingly. Thus, a sealed type lead battery can be formed. Accordingly, amount of electrolyte held in the retainer 3 is kept constant, eliminating any possibility of leak thereof and reducing the internal resistance through excellent contact. |
