DEVICE FOR EASY OPENING AND REMOVAL OF MEMBRANE SEAL A tear tape or string having both ends extending outside the closed sealed region for easy grasping and which is not permanently fastened to either the container or the membrane prior to sealing is provided across an opening in a container and under a rupturable membrane sealing said opening. The arrangement allows for easy tearing of the membrane into two portions and the ready removal of one or both portions. In one preferred embodiment the tape is provided with a thermoplastic or adhesive coating which permits a more effective hermetic seal at the point where the tape passes through the sealed perimeter of the opening.
