PURPOSE:To suppress the uneven illuminance of a master reading original plane low and to prevent the generation of the stepwise difference of a luminous amount at the boundary of the split original plane, by using a light source forming an equal illuminance band over the longitudinal or lateral width of the original plane to be read and a reading section combining in one body photo sensor arrays. CONSTITUTION:A long optical source is used to form the equal illuminance band over the entire lateral width of an original plane S to be read as the light source 21. Further, a reading section 20 provided with an image forming optical system and a solid-state scanning element in the housing is given separately with the light source 21. The light source 11 is scanned reciprocatedly on the original plane S to be read in synchronizing with the reading section 20 and the center of the reading section 20 is shuttle-scanned in the path tying A1 B1 B2 A2 A3 B4 At. Thus, the deflection of the filament of the light source 21 is very small in comparison with a light source of a conventional device scanned in shuttle and even if drooping of filament takes place, since the illuminance is changed in a comparatively wide range of the original plane S to be read, the uneven illuminance at the inside of the original planes to be read S1, S2, S3, S4 split is suppressed low, and the stepwise difference of the illuminance at the boundary of the original planes S1, S2, S3, and S4 to be read is eliminated. |
