PURPOSE:To enable fixing of the ice breaking screw to low draft line vessel, by providing an Archimedian screw at the bow in parallel with the center line of the hull then positioning the leading edge on the draft line and driving through an universal joint. CONSTITUTION:An Archimedian screw 1 is fixed through bearings 7-9 to the bow in parallel with the center line of the hull. The screw 1 is provided while inclining such that the leading edge is positioned on the draft line 6 to facilitate running onto the ice plate 10. The rotation of an engine 17 is transmitted through a torque converter 16, universal joint 14 and a speed reduction gear 11 to the drive shaft 13. By means of the universal joint 14, diagonal driving of screw is enabled to enable fixing of Archimedian screw to a low draft line vessel. |
