PURPOSE:To obtain large damping force by a simple constitution wherein a revolving inertial body is made eccentric in high acceleration vibration, resulting in frictionally engaging the outer periphery of the inertial body with the inner periphery of a tubular case in the vibration damping device of apparatuses in piping system or the like. CONSTITUTION:A ball and nut member 3 is eccentrically screwed onto a screw rod 2. The ball and nut member 3 and an inertial body 4 are coupled with each other elastically in the direction of rotation. In low acceleration vibration, the inertial body 4 rotates in following up with the ball and nut member 3. In contrast to this, in high acceleration vibration, the inertial body 4 can not follow up to the abrupt pivoting of the ball and nut member 3, resulting in compressing a spring 6 and causing relative pivoting between the inertial body 4 and the ball and nut member 3. At this time, because the ball and nut member 3 is eccentric to the screw rod 2, the inertial body 4 is pushed radially outwards, resulting in frictionally engaging the outer periphery of the inertial body 4 with the inner peripheral surface of the case 1. |
