PURPOSE:To obtain a buffer suitable when employed between an engine and a car body or the like by a method wherein vibration is damped by the inertial friction of an elastic member, when the amplitude of the vibration between two members is small and by the friction damping force due to the relative shifting of both the members, when said amplitude is large. CONSTITUTION:A buffer consists of a tubular cylinder member 1 and a rod member 2. Vibration is damped by the internal friction developed by the elastic deformation of a rubber-like elastic member 11, when the amplitude of the vibration produced between both the members is small. Vibration is damped by the frictional force developed by the relative axial shifting between the cylinder member 1 and a tension ring 12, because said shifting is caused when said amplitude is large enough so that the permissible amount of the relative axial shifting between the rod member 2 and the tension ring 12 limited by stopping pieces 14 and 15 is exceeded and yet the exciting force is larger than the frictional force generated between a facing 13 and the cylinder member 1. |
