PURPOSE:To sink the maximum value of combusting temperature without impairing the rate of fuel consumption and the output power of engine by selecting to the middle value of pressure between the max. and min. values of the opening pressure for a relief valve, i.e. relief pressure. CONSTITUTION:Relief valve 7 is composed of a valve element 8, spring 9, housing 10, an upper 11 and a lower 12 spring receiving seat and a spring adjusting screw 13. P(max), Pc(max) and PR are a max. value of the pressure generated in the combustion chamber 4 in case no relief valve 7 exists, a max. value of the pressure generated in the combustion chamber during compression stroke, and the opening pressure for the relief valve 7, respectively. The P vs. theta curve as obtained by following from A to B, C, D and E (where P is pressure in combustion chamber and theta, crank angle) under the assumption that no relief valve 7 is provided, deforms to ABCMN when a relief valve 7 is installed, and the max. value of the internal pressure of combustion chamber decreases from P(max) down to PR. |
