PURPOSE:To prevent the formation of the segregation, pores, etc. in a bloom, by generating counter stirring forces in the horizontal section in the direction at right angles to the drawing direction of the bloom with an electromagnetic stirrer, specifying pole pitch and setting the frequency for moving the magnetic field at a commercial frequency. CONSTITUTION:Part of upper support rolls 3 in an area where support rolls are densely disposed are exchanged with support rolls 4 of a small diameter consisting a nonmagnetic material and small-diameter support rolls are provided on the upstream side and downstream side of the thin part 5 at the front end of a moving magnetic field type electromagnetic stirrer 1. The magnetic pole part at the front end of the stirrer 1 is thinned 5 and is brought close to the bloom through the spacing between the rolls 4. The pole pitch is constituted of 200-300mm. and the frequency for moving the magnetic field is set at a commercial frequency (50Hz or 60Hz). |
