A roller comprises two complementary circular solid roller halves 40, 40h, Fig. 7 with flat sides each half having an annular groove opening into the circumference of a centre aperture, the annular grooves defining a race for ball bearings 5 disposed between the annular groove and a centre shaft 10. The roller may have a peripheral groove (3), Fig. 1 (not shown), which runs on a rail, the roller being supported in a frame (16). A roller half may be formed with integral pins which engage complementary holes in the other half so that the assembly can be secured by deforming the heads of the pins. The annular groove may have radial partitions (6a), Fig. 6 (not shown) and one or both annular grooves may have a re-entrant lip which retains the balls in phase during assembly. The outer groove may have a peripheral plastics tyre and bushes 15 may be fitted. The rollers may be of metal or plastics. |
